Q. How does the laser work?

A. The Genesis is proven to stimulate the creation of new collagen by the heat of the laser. 

The photo genesis works by shrinking the small blood vessels on the surface that give you a flushed look and pulling off brown spots.

The photo to the right shows the variable depths of skin targeted with 3D Photo Genesis.  The first layer is your surface layer of skin that is exposed to the sun's damage.

The second layer (deep purple) shows your pores and fine lines.

And the third layer is the deep dermis.

We focus on the first two layers.  Utilizing the laser to remove:

 - Roseacea
 - Brown Spots
 

Q. What areas can be treated?
 
A. Virtually any part of your body with uneven skin tone, diffuse redness, or sun and age spots can be safely treated.  The chest, face, shoulders and arms are the most popular areas for treatment because they have typically had the most sun exposure.  Discrete brown spots, excessively ruddy complexions and skin densely covered with freckles respond well to treatment.  Veins can be treated from all body areas.  Men and women alike can enjoy the freedom of ridding their face and body of unwanted hair.  Most laser procedures utilize non-invasive laser technology.

Types of laser treatments 

? Photo Genesis (IPL)—Treatment of skin redness, brown spots and sun damage. A visible light (bright light) is selectively absorbed by the pigmented spots and red areas on your skin.  No anesthetic is necessary.  Immediatley following the treatment, the spots may start to darken.  You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin.  This subsides within a couple of hours.  Many patients see significant improvements within two to three weeks.  Over time new spots may appear if there is sufficient sun exposure.  Remember to liberally apply sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots.



? Laser Genesis - Treatment of fine line wrinkles, large pores, skin texture, diffuse redness and scars.  You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation.  Diffuse redness is the appearance of facial redness, such as rosy cheeks caused by dilated small blood vessels called capillaries.  The diffuse redness is often associated with a condition called Rosacea.  Gensis works by heating the upper skin surface and stimulating collagen regrowth.  Thus filling in fine lines.  The heat also reduces the redness.  On average 4-6 treatments are needed for optimal results.  The heat reduces the size of lare pores.  The most common side effect is slight redness that disappears within a few hours.

 

? Vein Therapy - The laser treatments can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body.  Small facial veins can be treated quicky without bruising.  Spider veins and large blue leg veins can also be treated with excellent results.  Knotty varicose veins are not good candidates.  Patiets with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results.  The laser delivers pulses of light which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body.  Blood flow will be redirected doop in your body where it should be.  Patients usually find hat one or two treatments are sufficient.  however this ma vary depending on the size, number and color of the vessels.  Patients generally resume most normal activities immediatley.  However it is recoommended that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours.  Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks.



? Hair Reduction - Now men and women alike are making unwanted facial and body hair a thing of the past.  No more painful waxing, electrolysis or razors.  The CoolGlide laser can treat men and women of all skin types.  Most areas require three to six treatments.  However the number of treatments depends on several factors - your hair thickness, the area being treated and your hair's growth cycle.  Hiar has three cycles - growth, regression and resting.

CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment.  Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.  The area will appear red and swollen after treatment.  Three to seven days after treatment the hairs will shed.  Between treatments you should ot wax or pluck but shaving is permissible.

Many people can feel very self-concious about their rosacia.  In four to six treatments you can see results similar to those of our patient seen below. 

Below is an example of Vein Therapy.  Smaller veins can usually be treated in one to two treatments.  The patient below experienced these results after only one treatment.
